Over time, your jewellery will develop a patina, especially when exposed to humidity and heat. To avoid tarnishing and oxidation, it is recommended to store your jewellery in the provided box or in an airtight container, ensuring it is completely dry.
Apply beauty products such as perfume, hairspray, cleansers, and deodorant before putting on your jewellery, and allow them to dry; the chemicals in these products can cause jewellery to tarnish. This is especially important for gold-plated jewellery.
Take jewellery off when showering, swimming, exercising, and washing your hands, as perspiration, soaps and chlorine can all tarnish your jewellery, especially gold-plated jewellery.
Gold-plated jewellery (sometimes referred to as gold vermeil) is made by applying a thick layer of 18ct gold over sterling silver.
All gold-plated pieces are handmade using UK hallmarked sterling silver as the base metal, with a high-micron 18ct gold plating. No cheap base metals such as brass, copper or bronze are used.
Do not use silver polishing cloths on gold-plated jewellery, as they contain abrasive compounds. Instead, use a soft dry cloth and buff very gently if needed.
